As far back as 2005 we thought the branch may be gone soon.
At least we have a bunch of saved images & Video.
In the P&WV Archives collection that Longview sent over there is a
ton of saved historic material(s) related to the West-End Branch operations.
I guess when CSX removed the switch it was only a matter of time.

JR shot almost all of the branch in 2005, the link shows only a few.

As for the West End Branch, it was a done deal years ago.
Rail traffic ceased a long time ago.
CSX took out their main track switch.
Stueben Street Crossing came out some time ago.
The flashers remain, but the railroad is gone.
And from what came over the wire months ago,
vandals stole alot of rail off the branch from
West Belt Junction down towards the Parkway Bridge.
I think they were caught in the act, but nevertheless,

The West End Branch is now just another memory.
