Wood Cabooses 820 / 823

Some rare shots of the bridge and deck M of W cars. These were used for a short time and were replaced by modern M of W trucks in the late 1950's.

June, 1952 (227kb) This photo is a rare shot of P&WV bridge and deck M of W rolling stock.  The train consisted of a  composite gondola in oxide red, storeage boxcar (Ex W&LE) which was light grey with black lettering and 3 former New Haven wooden cabs, light grey in color dedicated to M of W.  A twelve man crew worked 8 months of the year painting and cleaning the bridges and decks. (105kb) Also included was the P&WV WX8.  This was the tender for P&WV switcher #20.  The  Ex New Haven cabs had been converted to storage for paint and thinner and crew bunk cars.  Shot taken at Oak MP 50 storage track. Aug, 1953 (106kb)
