Offset Hoppers Series Part 4 Section 1

The P&WV purchased a total of 700 Offset Hopper cars built to the 60 Ton Alternate Standard Design. 100 Cars from AC&F in April 1947 and 600 cars from PSCC in March 1949.

 

We don't have a photo fo the original 6700 series cars in our collection.  However here is former 6700 series car  that was rebuilt and re-numbered at Greenville Car Co. (183kb) Here is another shot of the 717 former 6700 Series car that was no longer a P&WV owned car but leased from the Greenville Car Co.  Note the GV marked on the car. (158kb)
Purchased from Pressed Steel Car Co.  in Feb. 1949 600 of these all steel 60 ton Offset Hoppers were painted black with only a white logo to the right. P&WV 93 60 Ton Offset Hopper.  Note the LP (Lamperts Points) lettering and date of 7/65.  Photo P. B. Dunn 1965.  At this time it an N&W car. (96kb) P&WV 258 Offset Hopper heaped high with black diamonds.  This train originated at the Avella Acme Cleaning Plant.
