Just up on Ozark Mountain Railcar:

#410 was built by Fairbanks Morse in 1954 as a H20-44 road switcher. It was the last locomotive of this type sold by Fairbanks Morse. It served with the Akron, Canton, and Youngstown as #505; Norfolk and Western under an unknown number; and the Southwest Portland Cement Co. as #410. It came to the current owner in 1984, where it was painted in Union Pacific colors. It ran regularly until 2008, when it was damaged in a flood. The locomotive has not had a blue card since 1983, and due to its damage is unlikely to be in repairable condition. #410 is one of three known H20-44 locomotives in existence.

Price tag: $27K as is/where is (Galveston, TX).

You need to register to view.

The museum is wanting to dispose of other pieces of equipment that were caught in the hurricane storm surge.

I think??? The Age-of-Steam. These folks might be one
of the very few organizations who could purchase, move, & correctly restore
this rare FM unit.

Would be quite a project, both in $$$/time/mechanical knowledge.
Complete Operational, and physical Historical restoration for the last FM-H-20-44. ( AC&Y Flag )
Bringing this unique piece closer to it's original Ohio home rails.

...just my 2-cent thought.

JZ.

Well, consider that it was submerged in a 10' storm surge, operational restoration would be a long row to hoe, if even possible. I do not know if the museum did any salt water remediation of any kind or just let it sit until it dried out in the sun (worst case scenario). Methinks it's only salvation is for either static display somewhere or, gawd forbid, new razor blades....

McKees Rocks resident B&LE 2-10-4 #643... eBay auction round 3 at a reduced $350K, OBO. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1944-Baldwin-Locomotive-Works-Steam-Engine-Video-link-in-description/233234457634?hash=item364ddb6422:g:fQoAAOSwnodc0Iku. That's another potentially long sad story that should be told over a couple beers.
