Well, about 10 years ago, @ A.B. Charles shop, picked-up a scale model (dummy) kit
of the Walthers American Crane series 5050/5070.
Think ??? it might have good bones to bash & detail into a
respectable P&WV DE-5 shop/MofW 25-ton self-propelled model the
railroad had purchased new in 1951.

...but Help!!! need a scale model-guy with much better sight, hand-eye
co-ordination & kno-how, to string the small boom rigging-cables.
Also, to attach the a kit-bashed clam-shell bucket.
About
60% of the detailed proto-type changes and paint are complete.
Some easy small stuff from Kadee, correct scale couplers,
wheel/roller-bearing 70 ton trucks etc., detailed tie-down rings, ladder, grab irons, air hose connections,
and scale horn yet to be attached after rigging & boom work is
complete.
This X-5 model, as it might have looked in the early 1950's. Not sure
at this point, to go with White or Yellow ??? logo and reporting marks.
No good PWV era images found so far, do have several pics from 1968 at ROOK,
lettered for N&W 500505.

Message the BB if you can suggest or help...

BTW, Idler-material-flat-car P&WV P.604 is about 90% complete with lots of neat details.
(combo Red Caboose/Intermountain model.)
Painted-weathered Black, with White logo/reporting marks circa: 1953.

Jer.

Likely no help but I do think the prototype was an ALC model 825-DE. There's not a lot of info or photos out there for this model. One of the railfan photo sites has some images of a BN 825-DE. If you want, I'll see if I can track them down for reference. Did I send you the ALC brochure for the 825/830-DE? If not, it's available on their website or I can email a copy to you.

I don't think I've ever seen a color photo of any of the P&WV cranes so I couldn't tell you if the stencils were white or chrome yellow.

Jer, My eyesight is probably about as bad as yours, but I'd really like to see a picture of your model :D
