Superintendents General Notice No. 563.
June 14th. 1938,
Bridge & Deck, Masonry & Paint gangs completed re-pair & up-grades to
the Peters Creek Bridge on the Clairton Branch.
"... P&WV Engines in 1100 series can now be operated on the Clairton Branch.
These engines still must not be operated on Commercial or Mine Sidings of the Branch.
Helper Engines 900 and 1000 series must still be separated by five(5)
cars from the 1100 series on this branch...."
Tonnage ratings for 1100 series Clairton Branch:
Engines 1100, 1101, 1102, 2890 tons Westward.
Engines 1103, 1104, 1105, 1106 2715 tons Westward

8' X 24" (yes, 8-foot X 2-foot!) size with Legend.
The Original, P&WV Railway Co.(revised December 28, 1953.)
Situation Plan Diagram/Drawing of the proposed Barge Loading Facilities
at Bridge No.90.73(39-a) Ohio River Crossing @ Mingo Jct.
November 10, 1953.
Detailed info shown in color, "Existing" tracks & signals, and the
"Proposed" tracks & signals to be removed and replaced.
Diagram/drawing covers: Tunnel #9 (Wellsburg) West Portal to
Bridge 91.96 to just west of Coen's Tunnel.
Office of P&WV Chief Engineer.
OK, some fans still confused??? as to how this operation/project
would work.
Two(2) Large pads, complete with sorting, Loading/Un-loading Bins.
Both connected by covered-elevated-conveyer-system(s) at both P&WV Line and
Ohio River Barge Dock locations.
On the P&WV main Line, the passing Mingo track would become
a 25-car loading/un-loading track East and another 25-cars West of this
main line loading -bin-facility.
Along the river, a series of Barge to Crane to Conveyer Bin operations. Simple, direct Barge-to-rail and vice-versa operations.
Movements for Coal, Coke, Ore, Steel-making stuff etc.
Additional smaller conveyer-system for Farm & Feed grains: Corn, Wheat, Soy, etc.
All for both domestic and import/export. |
