Looks like sometime 8/18/2016? the main span was lifted and
put in place. Today, about 11AM. Lone Pine iron-men crews were on
the span & ground working about the small open viaduct section(east -end).
Looks like the new deck-ties/timber work may start very soon, Mon?
...both web-masters missed the event! |

The Bridge & Pierce Connection. 8/21/16
All new bridge span and viaduct sections look complete
and are up-in-place. On-going steel-tie-in work.
New and S.H. CWR has been dropped
along the branch ROW from the Pierce Switch to the Bridge site.
Looks like the branch will be 112-115 New/S.H. CWR.
Some S.H. (second-hand) rail may have been taken from the P&WV
Main-Line? (....replacement with 136# CWR).
Additional branch surface-tie and ROW grooming & ditching
remains to be completed. Guess?, may happen after the
bridge timber/ties & new rail is installed, ... soon.
Main line new-switch at Pierce, MP.39.8 not installed yet. New CWR on main, installed to this point.
Could be? when CWR project begins Pierce to Monessen MP.20.
Did not observe any CWR on ROW/ground (looking East)
beyond this switch connection. When/Will the span get paint?
Road is still closed, while Lone-Pine people continue the finish-up work.
Regular rail traffic by late Sept.?????? |
