Does anyone know at which plants the ACF and PS1 boxcars were built? I'm working on the builders stencils for the as-built box car graphics and both companies had the plant locations in their stencils.

Thanks

WHEW ! Jayrod, asking the hard questions ...
The late L. Kline asked this same question about these graphics.

As I recall, Larry & Ted Culotta were working on a Sunshine-Speedwitch?
kit project, specific with great detail & graphics to match these ACF 1200 series cars.

In late 1946 the P&WV placed an order for 100 of these cars. At this time period (1946-47'), there was a mad scramble by railroads to replace old aging
worn out wood cars. ACF order issues were compounded with strikes and material resource problems. P&WV delivery dates were delayed.
Larry had E-mailed a B/W image of #1204 with (1203 & 1205 Left /right) at an unknown date & location. Even at 72 dpi. shows no journal-cover lids!
Tim McCready
and other old heads recall these cars shipped into Rook in small & large
blocks over a several week(s) time frame.
We all thought maybe, this ACF order was built & completed in at least two
different plants. Specific locations?? Dates???
The images of these cars in our Hi-Line collection are only prints/
low res-scans, very difficult to read the tiny 2-inch lettering graphics.

Jez! I miss Larry K. our rolling stock expert, I'm sure he would have been able to give a correct answer.

The 1200-1299 series were built at ACF's Chicago Plant.

Thanks, David. I've deciphered that the PS cars came from Michigan City so now I'm all set.

Some addition information........

You are correct on the Pullman Standard cars being built (1300-1399) Lot 5919-A built at Michigan City (Haskell & Barker Plant aka: Michigan City Plant).

The 1200-1299 were built under ACF Lot 2961, as stated, at the Chicago Plant.
