I've been curious to know if the P&WV ever had either its H16-44s or Baldwin as616 fitted with boilers for passenger service? I know that their passenger trains ended early on but did they operate any sort of business car that would've required winter heating say locomotive hauled. If not did the railroad ever roster any generator cars perhaps converted from one of the baggage cars.

No, none of the FM's or the two Baldwins were fitted for any type of
steam heat. Both the Business Cars # 300 & 400 were out-
fitted with (very modern for their time) Baker Bros. oil-fed systems.
The Business cars #100 & 200 after 1960 saw only very limited
Business Car Service. Not sure what type of on board Heating & Cooling systems they
may have had prior.

For electric lighting, it's possible they may have had axle driven generators and batteries for the old 32 or 64 volt DC systems. _________________ Eric Schlentner
