1000 hoppers in the 3000 number series were ordered and built in 1923 from the Cambria Steel Car Co. Delivery was 1924. These must have been tough little buggers. As JZ said, a good many of them lasted until 1963 through a couple rebuildings.

Looking at their image, it's a good representation of a rebuild around 1939-41 or so. This was also about the time that channel ribs started to appear on the heavier rebuilds so unless there's a photograph of this car, I can't verify the number. It's the correct type of car though without having one in hand I can't vouch for overall dimensions, trucks, hopper latches, etc. It has what appears to be the correct early style logo (you can tell by looking at the ampersand) and the data is in the right places though I can't read it. My only nitpick would be the line under the number may be too long. Again, you'd need a photo of the car to verify. My first impression is "nice job".
