OK boys,
Location, circa: 1908 before the Tunnels/Parkway, or almost anything else?
The smaller wood span, WSB/Little Saw Mill Run R.R. to Temperanceville/
West End?
...give it a few seconds to load.

Very nice photos, but I do have a question.
Why is the ground disturbed in the foreground of the photos?
The Parkway West construction didn't begin until the early to mid 1950's. Just curious if anyone knows what the property was used for in 1908?
Kind of a steep hill for farming?

Rich,
there's two more images in this group.
The photographer shot in the other direction,
looks like farm field prep, and indications of the
Banksville Stone Query work.

Historic Pittsburgh Collection, 22,845 images(WHEW!) are on line.
I really enjoy browsing this old Burg stuff. Many of these
historical images are just fantastic!

Also, a ton of other local R.R. info in this massive collection.

PWVJer, Thank you. Pictures Banksville Avenue Plate No. 5 & 6 answer the question. I guess you farm where you can. I'm guessing that is the farm house just beyond the West Side Belt bridge?

Banksville Avenue Plate No. 4 really puts into perspective just how big those bridges really are, there is a man standing in the creek bed near the P&WV bridge.

...ya Rich I think the farm house & other structures are just out of site
in plates 5 & 6.
How about all those East Carson St. / W. End/Temperanceville
images,? I have browsed/quick-look only 6,500 or so to this point.

Some interesting stuff on West Liberty Ave. @ Saw Mill Run as well.
...yes JR/JZ in Historic Pittsburgh archive image overload!
