Wow. $382 & change for a model that should have the drive train replaced. Bet that puppy looks good though - a real showcase queen. _________________ Eric Schlentner

yea, i got four of em', for sure did not pay $382+ for the
entire bunch! And nor should I, or anyone else.
If I were to give them an over-all "School-Grade"
it would be a C- ... at best!
Even with pretty good P&WV pro-paint jobs & custom decals w/
add-on details & gear replacement. These are only a fair representation for the
scale model collector/operator.
There is also a higher-cost O- scale brass model. (Larry K's P&WV Units) he put a
lot of work in his to get them to a respectable level.
...and Larry really knows what he's doing.
sigh... i don't believe anyone will produce a FM-H-20-44 in
any scale in the near future. P&WV, AC&Y, PRR, UP, NYC, IHB, N&W.
If folks desire any type/style of these,
"Pay-Up-Baby! your at the mercy of the crazy-e-bay market. |

I paid $440 for the Car Works O scale H-20-44s in 1992. I think that was the slightly more than the dealer price. They are nice models with cab interiors and Weaver drives that run well. I did replace the Pittman motors with Cannon motors so I can use "HO" decoders. I used DSX sound only decoders and I painted and decaled them. The only thing I dislike about them is that the cabs are not removable so I haven't painted the cab interiors.

Larry,
What's the scale model critique from some of
the "riviet-counters" in regards to the new IM hoppers?
BTW, how many FM's on your BOWEST roster now?
JR/JZ are looking at maybe a new Hi-Line running series.
" Operations, MOW, Derailments & Mishaps ".
VERY detailed Archive Original Reports, 6-10 pages per incident.
Many include NKP, WM, P&LE, B&O, MTR, and DS R.R. information.
Complete with train, crew, car, locomotive, route, location & detour activity.
So far we have sorted/compiled about 100 or so,
covering most of Jan.1961 thru Nov.1964. Also, found a
few scattered from 1958, 59' & 60'.
Looks like GPS had started to compile this stuff a few years back.
And we agree with his view, these are some of the most
interesting & informative Alphabet-Route archive materials in the collection. |

I for one would very much like to see articles and information on the train operations of the P&WV along with what it took to keep the railroad running. _________________ Regards,
