We are still missing the Jan. 1949 and the Jan. Feb. March 1959 issue.
Would like to locate the original(s) or a good copy. We do know that the
59' issue was printed and sent out to employees.
However,
the Jan 49' news-letter may be a harder find. May have had
printing and/or distribution issues??? Any help, or leads in this
search would be helpful. We are try'n to complete & post the Hi-Line* News-Letter series.
thanks,
JR/JZ.

BTW, just one more thing...
O'le JAYROD has been working on the P&WV massive graphics project (almost full-time)
for the past several months. Tons of time & work involved. To give you Hi-Line
fans a better idea of whats involved, here's a funny note sent to JR/JZ.

"Ya know... The logo on the Greenville lease cars makes for the 15th round logo version I’ve done so far
and I know of at least two more to do. Fodder for nightmares..."

That is the one thing that really surprises me about the High & Dry. The road was pretty much a small fish in a very big pond when compared to the Pennsy, the Central or Santa Fe. To control costs you would have thought they would have gone more with a one size fits all approach.

Jayrod, keep up the great work on the art work and Jim keep up the great work on the web site.

I asked that question early on when I noticed that there were a lot of differences. The stencil patterns must not have lasted as long as you'd think and every time they needed a new one it was done by hand. Hence the differences in Rook's patterns not to mention the artistic license taken by the car builders. Also, if the shop was in a hurry, they didn't bother to hand paint out the stencil tab marks. That got really evident in the later years.

Yep, Jayrod is 100%CORRECT! Very few model/decal makers
ever got P&WV graphics & color totally right.
When completed, this little project will be the ONLY place to
satisfy the very fussy/picky fine scale folks.

The "...Standard of the World Pennsy..." was not a P&WV
theme that's for damm sure!

You would have thought they would have kept a master pattern to be used to create stencil's when painting logo's on the equipment. I guess it was a different era back then.

Jayrod, your artwork is very impressive. You are a true artisan. Keep up the great work.

Jim, Yes thank God the P&WV was not the P-company. The P&WV was down home and personable.

Rich -
It's been quite a slog at times with the research and all. But, glad you like like 'em. Eventually all the samples will be set up as scale decal sheets.
