Good morning everyone. From my good friends at the Wheeling,
looks like the rail train is sitting in Brewster, Ohio. No clue when it will arrive.
But they do want trains out and running by August 1st. On another note,
ground is being broken and cleared in Avella for the new coal prep station.
No clue on the official opening of it yet. Have a good day in the Burgh,
looks like it will be a nice one. Starting my Monday today. Jason

...and we had a bit of Avella Coal Wash/Prep/Loading Plant info back in Nov. 2011.

Tunnel Ridge Mine is a longwall mine owned by Alliance Resource Partners.
The Tunnel Ridge reserve area covers approximately 9,400 acres of coal under land located in
Ohio County, West Virginia, and Washington County(Avella), Pennsylvania,
with reserves of an estimated 70.5 million tons of high-sulfur coal.
*****Operation is expected to begin in early 2012. *****
When Alliance announced the mine in 2008, the company said it is expected
to produce up to 6 million tons annually starting in 2012*.

Dosen't look like they are moving very fast on the prep plant in Avella. It sure is nice toe see some new traffic on the WLE. The Westland branch looks real nice. Never thought I would see a train on the Montour. I will go on an outing here very soon, possibly from Rook to Connellsville, I haven't railfaned that a whole lot.

Pete,
keep us informed/updated as of what's going on in Avella.
We did hear that much of the coal to be taken out
is for over-seas markets. If you can, post an image
or two. Thanks.
