Yet another big bunch of Westland Branch ROW pics from
(3/10/12) has been posted on your Hi-Line.
O'le JR has done another great job on this set of images.
These pics are in large-format (double-click-the-image)

This gives a better under-standing of the
magnitude of this project.
We hope these images will help the many interested folks who
live "far-off" and are unable to make a site-visit.
Fans can now enjoy shear size & scope of this amazing ROW story.

Some other interesting operation tid-bits we have heard,
initial plans call for: 40-80 cars per-day(start-up), increasing to
120-180 ( & more?) as demand & additional loading facilities come on line.
Watch for lots of P&WV mainline & siding ROW improvements
as this project moves foward.

Enjoy!

Sept, 24th. 2011 until March 10, 2012.
David Bowie's song pretty much tells it all.
"Cha, Cha, cha...Changes!"

Check out the first Hi-Line "Westland/Southview" pics.
Note: the "Newer-Big-House, now gone, and NOT a remote trace of it!"

Great pics. One wouldn't normally think that so much grading would be required on the existing roadbed. Just goes to show what mother nature can do in 30+ years.

One thing I've wondered about, but can't tell from the photos - is the connection to WLE going to be a switchback with the switch points facing the bridge or is it just running up the slope with the points facing Hickory?

Hi Jayrod,
In the Montour days the connection was a east end connection, but It's my understanding the connection is now going to be a west end connection. Does anyone know if the Hickory siding is still stub ended? Or did they relay the switch on the west end? I guess that could be one option for any trains that would need to run east. If the Hickory siding is once again a true siding, they could use it to run around a short train.

Regards,
Rich S.
