Having finally jumped into the "smart phone" world . .I noticed a lot of apps for policie scanners .. but they arent programmable to certain frequencies . .
Has anyone found one that will allow programming to put in the local railroads? Our ancinent scanner is no longer portable . .and this would make a handy replacement.
Thanks! |

I have a scanner app for my blackberry.
All the feeds run off of the web and cover all over the US.
The railroad feed comes from the below website.
http://www.railroadradio.net/
Same idea with police, fire, etc...
You can't program like a normal scanner.
Important to note that the Pittsburgh feed (under the Eastern Zone) for railroad radio has been offline for a while now so you won't be albe to pick up anything in the area until they decide to put it back online.
Also you need to have an unlimited data plan or you will get killed with usage charges.
You can find more info on railroadradio.net regarding the downed feed.
Other than that it works fairly well for the few bucks it costs. |
