Nice! Very Nice... Classic Trains issue, Summer 2011.

This six-page story with Images is a real keeper!

Just finished reading Bert's P&WV article and I thouroghly enjoyed it. Could anyone tell me where the picture on page 72 of eastbound 1102 was taken? Wouldn't it be nice to see P&WV featured in "Fallen Flags Remembered" in an upcoming Classic Trains issue. Thanks to the late Bert Pennypacker for keeping the old P&WV alive.

That's a good question, looks like (Guess) it could be near C'Ville. Maybe, Laural Mts. in the backround?
We have several R. Hallock prints in the Hi-Line collection (including these two).
But, all of our images are copies of prints. Not very sharp/clear, about what you see in this artical.
We would really like to see the original-negs some day
or the small inter-neg image(s).
We could do a "Bill Harvey-Images" type historic up-date that would be really nice!

VW, what's your location take?

In this artical there was a statement about the color on the FM units. It said they were olive green with yellow and red stripeing. Or were they black, with yellow and red stripes?

Black. Hi-Gloss Black!
Some of Bert's original notes and
earily information were based on
B&W images. The green FM-H-20-44 demo and PRR units added to this color issue.
BTW, several years ago we did send him a few J. J. Young originals from the Hi-Line collection.
I think the current editor may have used some of his older informaton.

Folks;

I haven't seen the article.
The photo your asking about, if its a shot of the eastbound coming around a curve, my feeling is was taken where I-70 crosses the railroad at Mile Post 20. I-70 wasn't yet constructed, and I think the farm house still exists.
