I stopped at Rook Yard and saw some interesting sights. I had my camera and took a few shots.
The natural gas transfer station is at the east end of the yard not far
from Greentree Tunnel. Two portable units pump gas from the tank trucks
to the rail car tankers. The gas is not quite liquid and is pumped in the tank car
to a pressure of about 70 to 80 PSI. They should be doing this for the next
3 months or so at Rook. The yard is loaded with cars. I saw a string of empty
coil cars sandwiched in between by frac sand and other cars.
The 109 and 106 were switching some cars in the crowded yard. Enjoy the photos.
