The word on the Montour Group is that W&LE will build a connection at Southview to reach a proposed new yard in Westland. According to the rumour mill, this is a done deal and clearing will begin in Westland early next year. Supposed to be a 400-car yard built on the old Westland mine site.

According to some WE management folks, this is indeed a "Done Deal".
BTW, reports of several large, older coal-fired power plants in the East/ Mid-Atlantic states,
will soon convert to some form of natural gas.
Some R.R. friends suggest much of this Mark-West* (Westland) traffic could move east/north-east.

...maybe a bit of speculation/conjecture,
but, keep an eye on...Consol Energy Corp. in the Avella/Cross Creek Valley area.
