Now up!
The 57 page(s) index of AFE/AFR's from 1938-1964 is on our site.
We have some initial completed dates (1950-1956). 1961-1964 will soon follow.
Just click-on the
Index page for the General Information starting in 1938 and ending in 1964.
Click on the individual year(s) listed for the specific & detailed [Month & Day] AFR/AFE report, about 1 to 5 pages each.
Please give your system a bit of time to load these large PDF files.
In this up-date, you should have looked at or found about 650 pages or so....
and be in P&WV R.R. information OVER-LOAD!
Note: some on going adjustment work is being done by JR on these pages.
Enjoy, JR/JZ. |

Completed AFE/AFR material files is now on the site(1950-1956).
When you get a chance ...look very close at 1951 reports.
We have included the map(s) for the West End Yard and the
Mt. Oliver Coal-Coke & Supply Co.
* You can enlarge these maps by clicking the small (+ or -) tabs
near the top/center of the selection bar.
Some very interesting detail in these...
Many AFR/AFE reports do have Large Maps/Diagrams & Drawings attached.
JR has solved a major-riddle, how to attach & present this historic material.
BTW,
The Hi-Line picked-up/received a donation from( R.R.Map-Maker) Bill Metzger,
a large original collection of assorted P&WV stuff.
One particular report in this collection is just FANTASTIC!!!!
This entire report is now on the top of the "Things -to-do-List".
You will be AMAZED at what you will read & look-at in this
"Bankers Inspection Trip... Oct. 15, 1953". report.
We have never seen or heard-of anything like this! |

Thanks for posting the AFE's and AFR's I looked through them and through the index. They're very interesting and I'm looking forward to more. I appreciate all of your effort to put them on line.
Since I'm interested in freight cars, I looked for AFE's and AFR's that relate to freight cars. I didn't see any in the 1950 to 1956 AFE's and AFR's that are posted so far. There are a few AFE's that relate to retirement of freight cars, or conversion to MOW service, in the later part of the index. They seem to have have Eq as the prefix for the number. I suspect that the AFE's for freight car purchases (and locomotive purchases) are in another one of the boxes.

Larry, you are correct not many in this 1st batch, but be patient, the 1961-1964 has a bunch!
The 55-ton U-channel cars seem to go-away in rapid order. The 5000 series cars were almost all gone by Feb.64',
most sold for scrap to Briggs & Tervis.
lots of gons 7000 series are on the way out in 63'. 17 cov. steel hoppers were to sold to save cost to repair.
These AFR car reports are in great detail.
The 50' box (12)cars 1500 series points to an interesting NKP suprise. Many reports of P&WV's newer
Box/Hoppers/Gons destroyed on other R.R. de-railments. |
