A number of years ago, before retirement of the pole line,
I found numerous poles with little "WUT" tages nailed to them
as well as usually 2 groups of numbers nailed below the WUT.

I'm assuming the "WUT" represented Western Union Telegraph
but I have no idea what the numbers represented.

Any suggestions?

I've found a number of those recently "out west," as in west of Rook.

A friend of mine and myself were trying to figure out what the numbers meant as well...maybe something to do with a lease agreement?

I don't know who originally owned the poles - was it the railroad or Western Union?
