Hello, My name is Donald Mack. I lived near the trestle over Edgebrook Avenue during the 1930`s and 1940`s. I walked the tracks to school at Oak School, Saint Norberts Catholic School, and Central Junior High during the late 1930`s and 1940`s . My memories of the thundering 2-6-6-4`s are still vivid in my mind, especially of the times when I was caught walking the double track trestle over Edgebrook when one of them became visable at the turn to the west of the trestle! ( Mother never knew, or at least I hope that she didnt!) Since that time I have been blessed by good fortune beyond what I deserved by being able to visit most of the world by working as a Professional Flight Engineer For several cargo airlines on aircraft ranging from DC-6`s to B-747`s (The last 14 years for United Parcel Service) I would trade much of the good years of my job to be able to see again those days of my youth, and If I could stand once again with my father beside the rails of the P&WV and watch transfixed with him as one of those roaring smoking marvels of mechanical perfection labored past, I would be content!

I think many of our fans share some of your wish's & thoughts.
Looking over the many images and news letters on our site (we hope)
helps bring back some of these...fading memorable times.

Donald, For me is was the 1960 that I watched trains in that area. I lived in Castle Shannon two houses from the city but walked to St Norborts to school. My bedroom window faced across the valley from the P&WV tracks at Childs Equipment. Mostly what I remember is the WM and N&W. However hopefully in the next year people will be able to see the 1100's on P&WV tracks through Castle onto Rook. This will be in HO scale. Nobody makes the 2-6-6-4's for the P&WV. But Broadway Limited makes a N&W 2-6-6-4, and I am going to try to convert this into the P&WV 1100's.

Dave
