NKP, Wabash, P&WV and AC&Y, all gone from the independent
corporate R.R. scene.
The Reign of the true "Alphabet Route" ended.

A sad day indeed. I still have to wonder why the NKP after purchasing the W&LE didn't try a merger with the P&WV and WM? I guess in a round about way the P&WV is still with us, as in the P&WV Power REIT. We are also lucky the new W&LE is still keeping the rails polished, just not as often as 50 years ago.

I thought for sure, when NS started turning the signals sideways, the end was near. Thankfully new life has been breathed into the "High and Dry"
