Wow! ... anyone visit that Hopedale area?
Lost in the crush of year-end announcements is the Hopedale Fractionation Facility in Harrison County.

MarkWest Energy Partners announced the new facility which began operations:

It is located at Jewett.

Here is what Denver-based MarkWest had to say about the now-operating facility:

In January 2014, MarkWest Utica EMG and the Partnership completed construction and commenced operations of the jointly-owned Hopedale fractionation and marketing complex (Hopedale complex) in Harrison County, Ohio. The Hopedale complex consists of a 60,000 Bbl/d propane and heavier purity products (C3+) fractionator, over 230,000 barrels of purity product storage, a 24-bay rail car loading facility with slots to accommodate 200 rail cars, and truck loading and off loading facilities. The Hopedale complex is connected by NGL pipeline to MarkWest Utica EMG’s Cadiz processing complex in Harrison County, Ohio, to the Seneca processing complex in Noble County, Ohio and to its extensive NGL gathering network in the Marcellus Shale.

MarkWest Energy Partners LP plans to double the propane and heavier fractionation capacity at its Hopedale complex in Harrison County, OH, with an expansion expected to be complete by the first quarter of 2015.
And, a 2015 big increase in business for the Westland Complex as well.

... did I hear this rumor right? Future of "coal" business is not dead?
MET coal in this same Ohio/Penna.area, (steel /coke/-making) for both domestic & export use.

....caught a few quick looks from RT.88, of the Thanksgiving Eve Coke Train.
Crawling thru Shannon, west-bound long train of loaded hoppers.
Looked like at least 3-units on the head-end. Dark hard to see, about 8:30 P.M.
The power was just past the C-Shannon grade X'ing with cars still rolling slow past MP46/Sheets complex.

Talking about activity West of Rook, has the Hickory siding been put back in service yet? I read someplace that the East and West siding switches have been installed and the missing bridge span over Wabash Ave. has been replaced??

Yea Rich,
it's in , from what I understand it's quite
busy. Rook trains both east & west, and Westland movements
as well.

I think the Hopedale Facility is just east of Hanna Tunnel, closer to Hopedale than Jewett. Haven't seen it yet. Google Earth shows 5/16/2012 and nothing but trees. Must have built the complex fast.

Jer, thanks for the update. Hopefully next sunny day, I'll be able to take a little field trip and due some railfanning along the former P&WV. Are the trains still hit or miss, or are they running on a somewhat predictable schedule?
