Well another Current Era update is complete. Howard Worley did a really great job of capturing the pure essence
of the P&WV in the N&W era. We hope both the High & Dry and Western Maryland fans enjoy this update.

A couple of Howards photos are wonderful.
Several years ago, Howard emailed me 2 scene's,
Monessen and the EastBound taken at Longview,
from September 7, 1975.
The eastbound scene at Longview was special.
Longview Station, the CTC Cantilever signal, the
Montour RR overpass, Longview Yard...
After seeing the date, I searched and located the
specific N&W Rook Train Sheet for September 7.
For the detail minded, N&W AJ-12 passed through
Pittsburgh Junction, Ohio at 12:52 PM September 7.
N&W AJ-12 arrived Rook at 3:45 PM at which time
the train symbol was changed to N&W DJ-12.
Actually, according to the train sheet, this train did NOT stop
at Rook as it is shown departing Rook also at 3:45 PM.
N&W DJ-12 met N&W 1-WJ-01 at Kelly.
The WJ-01 had N&W 6132-1797.
There is no time shown for DJ-12 passing Longview,
however DJ-12 met N&W 1-1-GCR at Monessen.
The GCR had N&W 2446-2710-830.
N&W DJ-12 is shown into and out of Rook with
WM 3576 - N&W 846-550-679 caboose 557504.
N&W DJ-12 had 51 loads and 37 empties,
5,478 tons.
N&W DJ-12...WM 3576 East arrived Connellsville
at 6:21 PM

These photos are great. The ones around Creekstone are across the valley where I grew up watching these trains every day. Great details can be gained from studing these photos.
On the photo of WM 3580 the caption has this as a GP 38. On the WM Historical Society site they have the 3500's as GP 35.
Is there an external diference between 35 and 38's? A modelers question.
Thanks,
Dave |

Typo error, WM units arrived for service in 1963. They were numbered in the 500 series. In March of 67' they were re-numbered to
3576-3580 to make their road numbers compatible to those WM's owner, the B&O.
These GP 35's got a major overhaul in 1970-71 at which time they were painted into the Red,White and Black circus scheme.
