The Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad interchanges with the W&LE at Everson. This line was the former PRR "Southwest Secondary Branch" out of Greensburg. The PRR would have continued through Connellsville, crossing the river before heading south to Fairchance. However, today the SWP seems (?) to run across the former P&WV at Everson to the new connection with CSX (B&O mainline) at Connellsville, before heading over the former "FM&P" branch at Greene Junction. Is this how the current W&LE operation works? |

SWP has their own line to Broadford which passes underneath the P&WV at Owensdale, then over CSX into Connellsville.
This is a former Chessie line, Broadford to New Stanton.
The W&LE uses the P&WV into Connellsville.
Only when the SWP has a derailment or washout on their own line will they use the P&WV into Connellsville.
The PRR line also ran into Owensdale long ago.
When the P&WV Connellsville Extension was being built in 1930, several P&WV work trains were detoured over the PRR from Bridgeville, Pennsylvania to Owensdale where a make shift connection was temporarily built...which is where the new SWP connection is located.
Owensdale once had several tracks passing underneath the P&WV overpass.
