On an update visit to the connection we saw a number of things. The track that connects the AVR to the WLE just needs to be cut and put in place and tied down. They are finishing up attaching the rail to the ties. They pre-drill the holes for the lag screws with a gas powered drill and then secure them with a gas power driver. Then they manually slide the clip in and ram it home with a sledge. It seems they will lay the ballast by loading hi-rail dump trucks and spread it with a hi-rail Gradall. They are bringing ballast in by dump truck and piling it at both ends. We saw them remove the heavy grading equipment by trailer transport.
