Jerry, What do you use to weather your models? |

Dave,
The U-Channel hoppers are a special ( Longview Shops*) run.
A ten-car set, many years ago. Graphics 99.9% correct !
My-Weathering choice, layered scale method with assorted paint, pastel pencils, and
Dave's * fine scale-powders.
All undec cars are rattle-can model paint. Gloss/Semi-gloss and Dull-coat.
Big-E productions(Jayrod) Fine Correct-Graphics.
Very carefully applied.
A wide assortment colors in all the above.
I try to treat each car project as a small piece of 3-D
canvas artwork. Specific models studied close, photo-image-matching
to real prototype subject etc.
Start slow, very light-layers, checking close each step. Always work under
bench lite, outdoor direct, and in-direct, " Natural Sun-Lite " combinations.
Same as above for adding the many small prototype scale detail goodies.
...and last, never rush-to-finish, never work when interest level is low,
or a bit model-tired. Think? it's good to just walk-away at times. Return fresh,
with a better selective view.
It's only a fun hobby for enjoyment, never real work.
BTW, it's JR's photo skills & his hi-end photo equipment,
that can show correct, sharp/clear finished-model-work. |
