Nice FM H-16-44 color slide @ Rook.
Looks like another over-priced bidding war.....

...ya know, a year ago or so, the Hi-Line collection received eight (8)
matching B/W original negs. same subject matter & date,
also included two(2) nice color dupes. Paid a reasonable (donation) price,
think ? $1.28 for postage & S/H.
JR posted a few of these a while back.

I'm amazed by the prices some of these slides go for. I do believe that originals should garner more than dupes. $52.05 with a day to go and this before the last minute bidding war. Somehow I seem to have more brains than money. Others, visa-versa.

$73.00 for a single Kodachrome.
Wonder what my original Montour R.R. Kodachromes are worth ?

Previous original slide of note went for $300 and some. You could be sitting on a veritable gold mine. I don't collect slides so I don't watch the market. Wonder what dupes are going for?

$300...sheez.
Funny thing, some years back a co-worker friend, a photography buff as well would take jabs at me and my refusal to switch to digital!
I kept in mind the lectures another friend offered back in 1975 about Kodachrome.
I eventually switched...but the going prices on these Kodachromes...

From opening that yellow Kodak box to that next roll of Kodachrome...
I couldn't help taking in the aroma...
After exposing all 36 and a few odd frames.
The prepaid Kodak mailers.
A week or there abouts later.
Processed and mounted.
Now seeing the going prices for a single image.
Priceless

I used to love shooting Kodachrome for the richness and color saturation. But since I went digital about 12 years ago, I've never looked back. With the high resolution sensors and lenses available in today's equipment, I get just as good of results if I take my time, set up the camera and compose my shot. And, no waiting for the lab to see if you got the shot you expected.

Also, my nose doesn't work so I have no clue what Kodachrome smelled like. Wouldn't know the house was on fire unless I saw the smoke.
