Rich,
Thanks for posting that. I've been accumulating images of the passenger cars for future graphics project. _________________ Eric Schlentner

No problem.
Wonder if anyone has any idea of a location?
I guess it could have been anywhere as it looks to be dated from the 50s.
There is a unique looking large building in the background up on the hill with Victorian era architecture, maybe a hospital or county facility.
Also see electric lines and masts in the background.
Just realized this very car was covered in this earlier thread..
The Westmoreland was Henry Clay Frick's private car.

In the articles in the thread it mentions that there were plans to refurbish the car at some point for Wendell Wilkie, who ran for president and lost to FDR in 1940. Wilkie lost so the plan was scrapped. It was to be his rolling white house.
That surely would have earned some political favor...
Coincidentally a photo of the Wilkie campaign car in 1940 in Pittsburgh at the PRR train shed is on ebay right now.

Trump has a jet, these guys all had private rail cars... slower but more luxurious with a view of the landscape.
The more things change the more they stay the same...

I'd say out east somewhere. If you look close, you can just about make out catenary wires over the tracks behind the 300. Probably PRR. That narrows it down to a couple thousand square miles....
Here's a link to the same type of PRR standard pole:

Well, I guess we can just say it's somewhere east of Harrisburg... |
