The End!
... a few snip-its of the day-to-day operations on the
"High & Dry" in the early 1960's.
Enjoy!
Root 'n thru stuff, found a pile of Transportation -Maintenance -Operations
Reports. Jan. 1961 to Dec. 62' ( and few more from 63'). Many fans know, and
have read about the rail traffic the AJ's carried.
However, many fans have very little knowledge/understanding of the "Extra-Moves"
over the C'ville-end of the railroad.

Jer, Yes another year has gone by, now 51 years since the P&WV slipped into rail history. Although the Alpha Jets and extras are long gone, it's good to see the P&WV rails are still being polished on a regular basis by the new W&LE. My memory is not as good as it use to be, but I seem to remember 12 to 15 trains a day over the P&WV and into the N&W era, is this correct?
In the early 70's didn't Rook yard also double as a Auto unloading point? I seem to remember a lot of bi and tri level auto racks loaded Eastbound and returning empty Westbound? _________________ Regards,

... ya Rich, I think you're about right with traffic level totals.
For the most part, (late 60's- early 70's) N&W trains were
both heavy/longer than pure P&WV moves. Also, one could observe
more WM run-thu power assortments & extra moves as well.
And yes, both New Car Ramps & Piggy-back loading/unloading service.
Below: P&WV, a rather typical movement day: April 7, 1962-6AM. to
April 8 1962-6AM. C'ville Div. (24 hr. period.)
Train movements which passed through the East-Portal of
Greentree Tunnel.
Arrived Westward.
