in the spring of 1953,bridge gang and american bridge co.did an overhaul of steel structure of this bridge.after the overhaul the bridge gang painted the
bridge.
the camp cars were cut out just east of the road bridge.i think this was the last any major steel work was done to this bridge.
my father was bridge gang foreman and also bridge inspector for pwv at this time.

Bill,
... can you recall, MOW cars P.172 & P.173 used by the P&WV Paint & Masonry Gangs?
Your bridge gang use any these? Where they older ex.PRR steel Pullman cars?
Maybe, ex.PRR Pullman Parlor / Sleeper cars, purchased late 1940's for P&WV MOW use ?
What P&WV paint color were they?
You know what ever happened to these boarding & service cars?

BTW, from what the Hi-Line understands, Clairton Branch re-build/rehab does include lots of
rail/tie/bridge/ROW surface work. A Big Project. Much has been done, with
a bit more planned work to yet be completed.
Also at some point, main-line Rook-M.P.55 to Pierce-M.P.39.7 will see CWR install.

JZ

Cannot recall P.172&P.173 used by Paint Gang
Bridge Gang use P.421 a wooden open vestabula for a kitchen car and P.169 a wooden 6 wheel truck for a sleeper car,the other numbers of other cars l donot recall. All MOW cars were painted alight gray during PWV time.L think they cars entered PWV service before 1940.They were replaced by NW converted box cars around 1970.
