Hot off the Press wire,
Millions for the W&LE Pittsburgh Sub-division. New Penna. State Transportation funding:
*WE-Railway got $3.2 million to install 14.5 miles of CWR
on the Pittsburgh Sub.
*Also got an additional $700,000 to install 60,800 feet of CWR as well
as install of 10,000 cross ties and four new turnouts.
This is in addition to the WLE's own increase of ROW improvement fund$ for the Pittsburgh Sub.
*...also hear that more U.S. Federal money$ for additional bridge &
tunnel work to be approved as well. |

Rich,
not sure, but would guess most
work for now will be West of Rook, and some East
M.P.52.6 to M.P.42.7 Bruceton Inter-change.
Maybe the WLE's Legal - Issues & settlement regarding the P&WV
operations/property leases & ownership might
be near ending. |

What is the latest word with the whole NS / P&WV Power REIT (real estate investment trust) issue? _________________ Regards,

Don't count on the Power REIT legal issues holding any sway. It'll probably be years before that is settled. WE will spend money on the ROW as traffic warrants it. As I understand it, they've been shooting for Class 3 track (40 mph) on all their heavily traveled mains. It's a good balance with their traffic levels and maintenance budget. East of Rook, there probably isn't enough traffic to justify better than Class 2 track (25 mph). _________________ Eric Schlentner
