|
|
Hello Group, I received my Atlas "N" scale P&WV 2 bay hoppers and as promised here are a couple of photo's. First I have to apologize up front, I only have a simple pocket point and shoot digital camera, the close ups are a little blurry. The lettering on the model is very clean and crisp.
First shot compares the old Micro-Trains / Kadee car on the left with the new Atlas model on the right.
The second photo is a so-so close up with my camera.
The build date on the car is New 2-49 and BLT 2-49
The only thing I can make out under magnification for the builder information is
BUILT BY
The next line I cannot read, but if I had to guess I think it says
PRESSED STEEL CAR COMPANY INC
and the final line reads
PITTSBURGH PA
Beside the Built date is the information
TUBULAR AXLES
and I cannot read the two lines below the tubular axles info.
Finally below the logo the car is marked
CUFT 2221
My 3 pack contained the car numbers
104
142

With all of this hot weather it looks like I have a pull-a-part. MOW has placed a 10 mph slow order on this section of track.
In reality, I've been kicking around the idea of replacing all of the track on the layout with Atlas "N" scale code 55 rail. The layout currently has Atlas "N" scale code 80 rail which is going on 18 years old. Unfortunately what looked OK 18 years ago, doesn't look so great compared to what's available today. _________________ Regards,

I'm using Atlas code 55 track and Atlas & ME turnouts. I have to build a custom curved turnout and the track will be done. All runs very smoothly and looks great. You'll have to change out any wheel sets with high profile flanges, though. _________________ Eric Schlentner
