With all the chitter-chatter on the WLE-board with regards to current increase in Bruceton (MP-42.8) traffic & inter-change movements,
maybe... a peek-back would be in order.
In the pure P&WV era, this Bruceton (B&O)Interchange was indeed a very active & busy place.
On average, at least twice-a-day, one could see an interchange(both ORE & General Freight)
taking place by the "Belt Local Crew/Mifflin Crew" or an " Extra-Man-East/West".
Many times these same crews could be found working "into a Hole",
so they could clear for fast-moving AJ traffic.
A B&O man would pull and sometimes shove, blocks of cars. Out of Glenwood Yard ,and up
Streets-Run, thru Whitehall Tunnel and down to Bruceton.
So, what you see today, is nothing more than a bit of "re-peat from the past".
Some interesting times...50's-60's 70's P&WV, and early N&W days.
We also scanned & adjusted another "HI-LINE" news letter. Maybe post
sometime this week.
Working on another two(2) Historical Images and Scale Model Page up-dates as well.
Enjoy!

Was doing some date & time checking with other family members.
It seems the "O'le-Man" may have been the 3rd.-trick - Rook-Yardmaster
at the time of this de-railment.
( 4:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 1962.)
61' 62' 63' Ziggy (C.J. Ziegler) worked almost all 3rd.'s with Tue. & Thur. his regular days off.
...if one checks out that old CTC /Yard Office building area this May 26th.
, when all is quiet...
One might just hear...
" AaaHhhh ...SON -of -a -Bi*ch!!!!
What the Hell's-go'n -on out there????? " |
