This was posted over on the W&LE board by Chris and is in regards to the current lease.
Thought it belonged here as well.
More info. on the legal ramifications regarding the PW lease. My guess is about right on. Due to the new Marcellus and Utica business, current PW management is trying to break the current lease in order to raise it much higher. The issue is if the current lease is terminated, any rail can sign up at much greater than the current 915,000 per year. See link;

It's getting a good blabbing on the Montour Yahoo group as well. My guess is that the lease will be determined in default, be re-negotiated and the the status quo will remain. But, ya never know... Maybe the WLE will go direct??? Heck, they already have to do the paperwork for payments and taxes and NS doesn't sublease it for free. It'll be interesting to watch. |

Wow. Were they still makin' those in '06? I gotta get me one of those fine machines, too! Maybe put some steel wheels on it and call it a big track car with hand-crank windows and a normal shifting transmission. Put some sanders front and rear, a big headlight on top and a tightlock coupler in case you need to move something out of the way. And don't forget the Leslie 5-chime under the hood. Now ya got somethin'!!! Oh, and don't forget the 8-track blaring Greatful Dead's "Casey Jones". Woohoo!
OK. Too much coffee. Whew. Back to reality... |
