If any of you fellow train riders out there have kids or grandkids and would like to take a train ride with Santa on Saturday Nov. 24 or Dec. 1, we still have plenty of tickets available. Orrville Railroad Heritage Society, Orrville, OH.
Four departure times each day, coach and first class, 1.5 hour ride, vintage stainless Budd and Pullman equipment on the W&LE from Orrville to Lodi and back. Nice, smooth ride through the farm country. Have the kids bring their Christmas lists. Get tickets on-line or by phone. Go to http://www.orrvillerailroad.com for more info. Trains leave from McGill Street boarding area, not the depot.
I'll be there as part of the mechanical crew and will be snapping a few photos. Maybe see you there?

Hi Jayrod,
Do you happen to know if the Orrville Railroad Heritage Society is planning any trips from Orrville to Pittsburgh (Rook Yard) Next year?
If I lived closer and had Saturdays off I'd sign up for the Santa train ride, but unfortunately the boss (read wife) would be very disappointed if I called off, to them drive four hours for a one and a half hour train ride. Sometimes it's best to keep the Misses happy. Have fun and hopefully your services will not be needed and you'll be able to take plenty of photos. _________________ Regards,

As much as we'd like to run trips to Rook and elsewhere again, especially with the Wheeling's track in such good shape, their current traffic levels don't allow us to run. Freight pays the bills and we'd be difficult to schedule and be in the way. Though, that door is always open... |
