...some H.O. model info sent to the Hi-Line.

Inter-mountain model production news.
1:87 detailed Alternate Standard 2-bay hoppers
should be released Summer 2012'???
Eight(8) initial road names including W&LE, NKP, and MTR.
But, NOoooo...P&WV car!!!! ????? P&WV had 700 of these types!
Maybe a second-run in the future?
BTW, these hoppers look to be proto-type-correct & detailed
off-set-cars.
@ almost $40 each, they better be!

Maybe Jayrod, (will/should/would/could) have accurate, historical & correct
P&WV reporting marks, logo, car color, art-work/graphics completed.
These Intermountain folks may need them.

The P&WV cars were slightly higher. From an Ed Hawkins post on the Yahoo STMFC group where these new models have discussed at length:
"Roads having cars of similar appearance that were 3" to 5" taller include ATSF 180800-180999 (GATC, 3-41), Erie 28600-28899 (GSC, 7-47), P&WV 6700-6799 and 1-600 (ACF and PSC, 4-47 and 2-49, respectively), and WLE 61000-64399 (5 builders, 1936 to 1947). The WLE cars received NKP reporting marks during the 1950s."

I expect to see Frank Angstead of Intermountain at the Cocoa Beach RPM meet next month. I'll ask him whether IM is planning to do P&WV cars.

Uh oh. Throwin' down a challenge. Maybe run a poll on which paint/lettering scheme version is preferred? Then I'd be all over it like a cheap suit.

Well, all-righteee then! They look to be doing 6#'s each?

My choice would be three(3) Black, with "Symbol of Service".
One car # 6735 with yellow steps, side-grabs, ladder-srirrups.
A nice Historic-
(1st. new look logo/slogan circa 1952).
The other two(2)... any 1-599 series. Maybe, one(1) with logo only.

The next 3 car set... Correct Red! (not the wrong orange-leaning-oxide)
samples out in the current market. Yellow reporting marks in solid
and open stencil style. # 223, #93, #404.

All good picks. It would be nice to see them all done. It'll require more research to figure out which cars had which graphics and when.

Typically, the manufacturers will do multi-packs, in this case 6 packs, of one scheme with different numbers. It spreads out the printing cost over more cars. If we approach them with one scheme at a time, it'll probably be more cost effective and attractive to produce.

Shall we put it up for a vote?

O.K. Black, "Symbol of Service"
Could be a nice over-all fit for both Diesel & "late" Steam era
prototype model operations. Any original car #'s would
be fine, but #6735 should be included.

I would perfer the Alphabet Route Cars,
but at this point...we are just not real sure about the "Red Original"correct re-shop color.
