Here is a film clip someone transferred to Youtube of the construction of the Speers-Belle Vernon I-70S bridge ca 1950. At about 40 seconds the end of a P&WV train moves west on the trestle behind the highway bridge--about a half dozen freight cars and likely a Northeastern caboose.

I grew up in Speers in the 1960's and watched countless trains cross that trestle. |

Neat! Thanks for the Link & Post! Welcome aboard 8870.
BTW, Hi-Line fans... the web-masters are not "asleep-at-the-wheel", with up-dates.
Thanks again to Longview-(VW), we are working on a very large P&WV AFE/AFR Project.
JR will post more news/ information in the near future, don't want to steal his thunder...just yet. |

Neat few seconds of the westbound crossing Speers River Bridge.
Notice he wasn't crawling across either.
I was at Speers Sunday afternoon watching a train crew cross the bridge.
Ever so slowly they went.
I still have a bundle of P&WV AFE's to go through for you guys.
I haven't had much time the past two weeks.
But, in another week or two I'll be at it again.

The speed of the train in this film is striking, maybe since we have gotten used to seeing what little traffic there is lately go so much slower. Is it a safety issue--can the tracks and structure take 40+mph traffic? |
