The P&WV Hi-Line

Working an add-on to the Box Car Image page(s). Larry Kline a Hi-Line Member,
and frieght car rolling-stock aficionado sent us a rare color image of Box Car # 1504. We will also add a P.B. Dunn image of car #1384.
This from the John La Rue collection.
However, the only information we have on the P&WV 50' dbl. door DF car(s) is as follows:

Information from the Official Railway Equipment Register.

Oct. 1955 shows 11 cars, #1500-1510.
Oct.1956 now shows 13 cars 1500-1512.(1511 and 1512 added)
April 1961 still show all 13 cars still on the active car list.
by Jan 1965 (N&W era) only two(2) cars remained, #1511 and #1512.

Some speculation and a bit of conjecture on our part, and... (word of mouth
from old Hats) as follows:


These AC&F cars were Black with White reporting marks. All had special custom racks for the transport of different Auto-Parts.
This business was a joint venture from the Traffic Depts. NKP/P&WV/WM. The 13 P&WV cars were Mellon Trust cars, 2nd. hand, from the DT&I R.R.
Some type of old PennRoad*
connection(s) deal to get them.??? Can anyone add/correct or verify/confirm any of this stuff?
