Many of us had the pleasure in meeting him and listening to his stories.
He was a walking encyclopedia of Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railway history.
The stories and their details.
He had them all.
He started at the bottom and worked his way up through the ranks.
When the N&W came to town and things didn't work out, he took his intelligence and knowledge and went elsewhere doing what he loved, working on the railroad.
From a ICC Inspector to the railroad department at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel.
Tim opened wide his door and took myself as well as William N. Poellot into his home and made us a part of his family.
Long after retirement Tim and his family traveled from his new home at his daughters in Connecticut to Rook so he could again ride the rails of his youth...those of the Pittsbugh & West Virgnia Railway.
Tim loved that railroad the way many of us do.
Sadly though, at 4:30 AM this Tuesday January 5, 2010 Tim McCready passed away with his family by his side.
Tim, We loved you and we will miss you.
