The stations at Longview, Bridgeville and Clairton. Does anyone know when they closed. Was it during the NW days or P&WV?
Thanks Tom Wilson |

All three stations were closed and torn down during NW time.

Modifications (for all scales)...by Rook Shop men.
to be prototypically accurate with your FM models. Starting in Mid-56' and completed in Late 58',
full, long-hood frame safety handrails on all the H-20's.
Also during this same time, the North-Eastern Steel Cabs received the pullman-type safety steps.
This was all part of the P&WV management team's green safety-push!
Also chrome yellow numbers/ID marks and black on yellow 24"decal logo centered on their sides
replaced the ol'e faded white stensils (Historical up-date, Cab #833). |

Tom,
Somewhere around here, I have an early NW-era timetable from 1968 that lists the office hours for many of the old stations (Longview, Bridgeville, and others). Once I find it, I can tell you the specifics.
By that time, only Pittsburgh Junction, Rook and Monessen were listed as "train order" stations.
I believe that many of the stations lost their "order boards" not long after the advent of CTC. I'm not sure on that one though...anybody else know?

I have N&W Pittsburgh Div ETT #200, dated 4-25-65. The only train order offices listed are Connellsville, Rook and Pittsburgh Jct. All three are listed as continuously open train order offices.

One of my first trips into Ohio on the P&WV was about 1975 and Hopedale was still standing. I recently was emailed a photo from 1976 of AJ-12 passing Hopdale with a Western Maryland GP-40 leading. Boy some of the fascinating equipment that has operated over the P&WV. |

There was another station that was on the south side of main track and Donora Branch at Sudan. It was in operation in the 1950s when the Bridge Gang was constucting a walkway on the Sudan Bridge (aka,Pigeon Creek Bridge). After the Station Agent left,Sudan Section Gang occupied the building until it was torn down. I have forgot the section gang number.
Does anyone have a picture of the station?
